Message from the Chairman of the Board

Another month of 2017 is in the books! March was very productive at the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce. The site plans for the new Chamber building project, Project Welcome, were completed and submitted to the County for approval. Once the approved plans are received from the county, clearing of the land for the new building will begin. Fundraising for Project Welcome is still going well with over 56% of the funds needed to complete the project already raised. If you would like to become a contributing partner in Project Welcome, or just learn more about this exciting project, please contact Donna Tucker at the Chamber office. In addition, Leadership Santa Rosa Class 31 completed Government Day led by Ron McCurdy. These emerging leaders learned about many different aspects of our local government agencies and departments.

April normally brings us the annual Excellence in Business and Leadership Conference. However, we have decided to move this event to the fall this year. Don't worry, Jason and his team are busy planning another great conference for you! Speaking of planning, the planning for this year's Military Appreciation Month events is underway; we love our military! We are happy to announce that the annual Military Appreciation Picnic, to be held on May 19th, will be on board NAS Whiting field again this year. A huge thank you goes out to Tracy Allen and Brian Watkins for co-chairing the picnic. If you or your organization is interested in participating in Military Appreciation Month, please contact Nicole or Donna at the Chamber office.

In addition to Project Welcome and the exciting events taking place at the Chamber, your Board of Directors is committed to focusing on two very important issues this year. A Member Development Committee has been established to promote current member benefits to our existing members, explore ideas for additional new benefits, and grow our membership base. We have also established a Strategic Planning Committee to review and update the Chamber's current strategic plan to ensure continued success of the Chamber and its members.

Steve Rhodes
2017 Chairman of the Board
